Legend and origin of Ban Kanchana woven fabric.

It began when Mother Kanchana started practicing Teen Chok fabric woven in 1979. After she was able to do and expert in, she started to teach other villagers to weave Teen Chok fabric until almost all of villagers were capable to do so. Then, they started to form a group in 1993 until present which has been more than 20 years.

Villagers spend their free time after rice farming to weave fabric. However, they actually do this since their ancestors. Thus, they can make additional income.

Our weave fabric group started with less than 10 members. However, currently, there are over 100 members.

Mother Kanchana designs patterns and colors for villagers and let them weave fabric per design. Most of patterns are applied patterns because their colors and patterns are modern.

Currently, Teen Chok weave is raise horn style then villagers are able to weave according to our designed pattern with quick weaving speed.

Ancient Teen Chok weaving is to weave the whole Teen Chok fabric sheet. The weaver shall be really expert and be able to start the pattern. In addition, it takes quite long time and may be up to 1 month resulting in quite high price. Therefore, this kind of Teen Chok fabric is for affordable or fabric collectors who love this style of fabric only.

Most of woven fabric at the store is raise horn pattern because customers will be able to purchase with not too high price.

However, if there is any customer interested in ancient Teen Chok fabric, he/she is able to contact us as well. Even the ancient Teen Chok fabric is expensive but this will extend our folk wisdom.

We would like people to use Thai fabric more in order to support villagers who weave fabric that they will not leave their loom and will not leave their career which is ancient wisdom.

Woven fabric is not industrial process but folk wisdom. If weavers do not love and patient, then they will not be inspired and will be unable to spend time with that sheet of fabric for days or months until finish each fabric sheet weaving. Every pattern on fabric displays story, lifestyle, wisdom, culture, believe, and religious. It tells story of each fabric sheet. Each fabric sheet is meaningful and contains life.
